Fair — WildBookMarket 2012

You are invited to the WildBookMarket 2012 opening tonight, February 10th 2012, at Het Wilde Weten in Rotterdam…

Artist run space Het Wilde Weten invited artists, and small, independent publishers, to present their publications at the 3rth edition of the WildBookMarket (WBM).

At the WBM artists, independent publishers, an artacademy, and graphic design studio’s will present their most recent, special, exciting and unique art books and zines. WBM is the ideal opportunity to explore, buy or swap art(ists) books.

WBM 2012 includes nearly 20 exhibitors and 150 individual entries. The entries come from many countries in Europe, and from the USA. Most publications were released in 2011, but some are published this year!
All participants are united in the WBMcatalogue.”

Artists books have an ambigous status as objects of art: Books to be looked at – art to be read. The presentation will question how artists books – as idea or concept, as medium or form, as strategy or practice – function as or in art practice. In other words: What can one ‘read’ from artists books in terms of research in the arts?”
