Fair — Fahrenheit 39

From April 20th to 23rd 2012 Fahrenheit 39, the Italian Independent Publishers Book Fair, moves to Mutuo – Centro de Arte in Barcelona, Spain…

Fahrenheit 39 is a festival that explores the book as object rather than a medium. The book is seen as the space where the work of artists, writers, and publishers intersect. Moreover, the festival celebrates other artistic practices related to edition, integrating an independent publishing fair, with lectures and workshops. Originally held in Ravenna, its name comes from its origin: +39 is the international dialing code for Italy. Fahrenheit 39 is presented for the first time in Barcelona by SHS Publishing, a young publishing enterprise based between the Catalan city, Rome and Berlin. The selection, curated by Emilio Macchia (Jan van Eyck Academie — Maastricht / Associazione Culturale Strativari), contains small editions and unique pieces, mapping the current state and future direction of the design of Italian publishing.

SHS Publishing will also present several house titles. Founded in 2009 by Luca Bendandi and Matteo Cossu, SHS operates on a new creative model, scattering its collaborators around the world in such cities as Toronto, New York, Rotterdam, Milan, Barcelona and Berlin. This way, it creates a network and constant flow of ideas to keep on top of the ever-changing world of publishing. SHS will present the group of creatives through a wall installations describing individual competences and interrelations.”
