Workshop — Unravel | Unauthorise | Upcycle

On July 21st 2012 Unravel | Unauthorise | Upcycle two self-publishing workshops and a discussion event organized by Extra Special People takes place at Eastside Projects. Until July 6th 2012 you can apply for a place on this intensive self-publishing project…

First workshop Strategy and Approach led by AND Publishing
Discussion with AND Publishing, An Endless Supply and Gavin Wade
Second workshop Production and Critique led by An Endless Supply

Over the course of two workshops and a discussion event, different strategies and ideas will be introduced that will enable you to develop a publication and take it to print. Using ‘Upcycle this Text’, Gavin Wade’s manifesto focusing on the concept of upcycling from the viewpoint of the arts as a starting point for thinking, this project offers the opportunity to learn new skills and put them into practice in a critical environment.

In preparation for the project you will be sent a PDF of ‘Upcycle this Text’ and invited to bring a new idea, proposal or product to the first workshop. Led by AND Publishing, you will develop your publication in collaboration with other participants.

In the evening, a discussion event with contributions from AND Publishing, An Endless Supply and Gavin Wade seeks to unpick thinking around self publishing by interrogating the structures and systems that limit and subvert the flow of information and ideas.

The second workshop, led by An Endless Supply at Eastside Projects, is held a month later allowing participants time to develop their projects. This session will focus on giving feedback on projects and looking at how to prepare files for print, with practical advice on publishing methods. Input into the critical discussion will be given by Eastside Projects Director James Langdon.”
